What does a Jesse Tree Look Like?

October 19, 2013 by Jacki Rucksdashel Leave a Comment

final treeWhen my husband and I got married, we had a Christmas wedding.  Our first Christmas together was on our honeymoon.  We went to the Smokey Mountains so it was the perfect setting for a romantic, white Christmas.

We went into town at the local grocery store, and bought a little tree, a few ornaments, a very flashy star topper, and voila–we had our very own, first Christmas tree together.  This little tree was not your Neiman Marcus, put it in a magazine kind of tree…but more like the Charlie Brown tree–cheap tinsel, but a lot of love and memories.

We were tempted to just leave the tree and the decorations when we left our honeymoon, but decided to keep it.  The next year, we put that little tree up again in our first apartment.  We loved it.  It was a reminder of our honeymoon, and the first Christmas we spent together.

Each year, we put that little tree up, with the grocery store decorations and all.  Little did we know, it would become our Jesse Tree a few years later.

Your Jesse Tree can be whatever you want it to be.  I have seen so many wonderful, creative ideas online.  From refrigerator trees to a potted branch, it can be meaningful to you and your family.

We have loved setting up our Jesse Tree.  The kids like putting up the lights and decorations, listening to Christmas music, and anticipating what is to come.  I encourage you, whatever your Jesse Tree looks like, involve your family as much as possible.  Kids love being involved, and they will catch your excitement and joy as you anticipate the coming of Jesus!

What does your Jesse Tree look like?  I would love to hear how you display your ornaments.

The Jesse Tree has been such a neat way to share with my family the real meaning of why we celebrate Christmas. I love the stories and having an ornament for my children to hang on the tree. We can lo...
