Today I’m guest posting over at my dear friend and mentor’s blog “Sursee Gal.” A sursee is an unexpected surprise that brings joy!
Leslie, being a mom to four grown boys, knows a thing or two about motherhood, being a wife, and learning to trust God to do those well. She looks for the sursees in her life and encourages others to do the same.
She writes about mothering, mentoring, hospitality, and her daily trust walk with the Lord through all areas of her life. There is so much wisdom for you and I in her words and experiences. You are going to be BLESSED my friends to peruse and read any of her blog.
Every Saturday she shares a “Saturday Sursee” with her friends. She invited me to share about the Jesse Tree today, and I’m so excited to introduce you to one of my favorite Sursees–the Sursee Gal herself!

The Christmas season brings great anticipation.
We can’t wait to take a bite out of our favorite Christmas treat. We look forward to decorating the tree while listening to Christmas carols. We eagerly welcome family and friends home to gather together. And who doesn’t like presents?!!
Our family is anticipating all of those things but something even more. We are celebrating the keeping of a promise, the birth of Jesus.
Beginning December 1st our children pull down a paper sack from our advent calendar. They open it with great excitement as they pull out an ornament that tells a story. The greatest love story lived for each one of us, the redeeming story of the love of God our Father through His son.
It’s called the Jesse Tree.
